According to “Saint Gobain”, their technical manuel defines frosted glass as a particular glass decoration based on the properties that certain glues have at the moment of the drying process, that is tiny glass chips or flakes are removed from the surface of one pane of glass where they once were. More specifically a pane of sand blasted glass lies upon a surface covered with glue left to dry. As the glue dries it contrcts or shrinks and pulls away the tiny flakes of glass leaving a rough and yet shiney and almost transparent finish.
The result is original, irregular and unique that gives the glass a precious look. This process can be carried out on alternate parts of the pane of glass giving it decorative effects.
Frosted glass or the Italian word for it (vetro givrettato) can also be called “iced” glass (from the French word “givré” that gives the impression of frozen water applied to the glass.
We can say that this process is a science and it is suitable for external and internal doors, store front windows, furniture, showcases, staircases and all other areas where complete privacy is needed. Its screening abilities allows only light to pass.
Frosted glass is available in different colours, thicknesses. For example:
